What is a Learning Station?

Entering the exhibit hall visitors will see a large exhibit and two pedestals with artifacts in the center of the room.  Lining the walls will be six similar structures, each of which addresses a different topic of daily life in the pueblo. These exhibits are our Learning Stations.  Visitors can to go to the learning stations in any sequence.

All of the six learning stations will have a large interpretive panel with text, images and one or more objects secured to the panel surface.  Features on the sloped counter will vary.  Each will have a video that is activated when the visitor lifts a hinged panel that exposes the screen.  Each counter will also have touchable replications or other types of interactive features that interpret the topic.  Each learning station will have two drawers.  These drawers can contain touchable objects, such as animal pelts, that are periodically replaced by the staff.

Learning stations' topics will be:
  1. Food (hunting, gathering, farming, water)
  2. Shelter (dragging logs from mountains, puddle adobe construction, kivas, pithouses, animal pens)
  3. Clothing (cotton, weaving, animal hides, turkey feather blankets)
  4. Pueblo society (trading, rituals, gaming, conflicts, rock art, murals)
  5. Technology (pottery, lithic tools, basket making)
  6. Archaeology (excavations, ground penetrating radar, discoveries, conclusions, unanswered questions)
